Originating from the famous Xianghualing deposit
This exceptional specimen comes from Xianghualing, Linwu County, Hunan, China, a world-renowned mineral site famous for its rich and complex geological history.
The Xianghualing Deposit is a so-called Skarn-type tin, lead, and zinc deposit with estimated reserves of approximately 134,000 tonnes of tin metal and 178,000 tonnes of lead and zinc metal. The area is located approximately 25 kilometers north of Linwu and about 70 kilometers southwest of Chenzhou in Hunan Province.
Geologically, the deposit exhibits various mineralization phases. The early stages are characterized by the formation of skarn minerals, followed by the successive development of complex mineralizations including cassiterite, magnetite, arsenopyrite, topaz, quartz, sphalerite, galena, pyrite, chalcopyrite, and calcite. The presence of calcite in these later mineralization phases has resulted in some of the finest collector specimens known from China.
