Description
Falcon's eye is a mineral and a variety of quartz. It consists of quartz intergrown with crocidolite (blue asbestos) fibers. Falcon's eye is dark blue with a characteristic chattoyance effect when polished. Over many thousands of years, blue falcon's eye will oxidize into a golden tiger's eye. The largest locality is Griquatown in South Africa. It is also found in Wittenoom Gorge in Western Australia.
Tiger iron is a rock consisting of hematite, which forms silver-like layers, from red, yellow or brown jasper and gold-yellow to golden brown tiger eye. As a rough stone, the tiger iron is usually rusty red. He turns off red. The color of the stone depends on the proportions of the tiger eye (yellow tan), jasper (red) and hematite (silver). Tiger iron is always clearly striped, just like a tiger. Tiger iron belongs to the oxides and the quartzs. The collapsing and squeezing of the substrate consisting of layers of jasper, hematite and tiger eye creates a layered structure of Jasper, Hematite and Tiger Eye. Tiger iron forms huge masses that can weigh tons. Locations include South Africa, India, Brazil, Mexico and Australia. In the gemstone therapy, tiger iron is used as “power stone”, a stone that can give a lot of energy, the “tiger in the tank”.
