Singing bowl cushions made of felt are ideal for enhancing the resonance of singing bowls. Moreover, felt provides a stable base for the singing bowls, allowing them to stand securely and be played comfortably. Felt is a non-woven textile in which the fibers are intertwined. Felt was likely the first form of textile produced by humans, although a prehistoric method of interweaving plant strands is also a possible example. In any case, the invention of felt preceded that of weaving and knitting by a considerable margin. The oldest preserved felt remains date back to approximately 6500 BC and were found in Asia Minor. In musical instrument making, the term "feuter" is usually used instead of "felt." Feuter is primarily used in instrument making for sound dampening: muting the strings of a piano, damping the mechanisms of a pipe organ, and so on.
