Having new large agate bowls produced in Brazil has become considerably more expensive these days. That is precisely why we were particularly pleased when we discovered this old stock: no less than 430 kilos of agate bowls, manufactured decades ago.
The trays weigh approximately 1 to 10 kilos , and thanks to this special batch, we can offer them at very competitive prices per kilo.

Old Brazilian grinding work from the 80s
These agate bowls are not of recent production. It concerns an old lot that was cut in Brazil around 1985–1990.
That makes the lot particularly interesting. Brazil has a long tradition of sawing, grinding, and polishing agate, but labor and production costs have changed significantly over the years. As a result, labor-intensive objects such as large bowls are much more expensive to produce today.
With this batch, we are essentially retrieving old stock from a period when such large pieces were manufactured on a much larger scale.
No less than 430 kilos available
We have managed to secure an old lot totaling approximately 430 kilos . There is an enormous amount of variety within this batch.
The individual bowls weigh approximately 1 to 10 kilos each. As a result, there are both compact bowls and impressive, heavy specimens that can be used directly as a centerpiece on a table or sideboard.
Because these are natural products and old hand-polished work, the bowls naturally vary in dimensions, weight, shape, color, band structure, and depth.
Every agate bowl is unique
Agate is known for its beautiful natural bands and color zones. When a piece is sawn and polished, patterns become visible that are barely predictable on the outside of the rough stone.
With these bowls, the inside is cut and polished, making the natural structures of the agate particularly beautifully visible. Think of wavy bands in grey, white, cream, brown, and sometimes other natural shades.
On some examples, parts of the original rough exterior have been preserved. The contrast between the rough natural exterior and the high-gloss polished interior gives these old Brazilian bowls their distinctive character.
From 1 to as much as 10 kilos per tray
The weights within the lot vary widely. A bowl of about one kilo is beautiful as a smaller decorative bowl, while the heaviest examples of several kilos are real eye-catchers.
A large agate bowl, for example, can be used as a fruit bowl, decorative bowl, display object, or centerpiece.
Place a few apples, grapes, or other fruit in it, and you have a particularly functional natural product. Without contents, a beautiful agate bowl is an impressive decorative object in itself.
