In the desert regions of northern Mexico, where the sun paints the landscape golden and the air remains clear long after sunset, local artisans have been working for generations with the stones the earth yields. Among the rock layers, they find deep red jasper, flamed agate, and fragments of rock in which ancient orthoceras fossils run like white lines through the dark material. In small workshops, often next to their own homes, these rough stones are carefully cut. The artisans know every vein, every color change, every fossil imprint. With simple tools and a great deal of patience, they shape the stones into bowls that are both functional and artistic. A jasper bowl has a warm, earthy appearance: red, brown, and gold interwoven like a Mexican sunset. Orthoceras agate bowls, on the other hand, reveal the elegance of time itself—a dark stone with light fossils that run like arrows through the surface, silent witnesses to a primeval sea that once lay here.
