Pink amethyst is a rare type of amethyst found only in the Patagonia region of Argentina. More specifically, the El Chiquada mine is the most frequently found site in that region. Pink amethyst is new and rarely offered for sale. It is an extremely energetic stone with strong healing properties. The most common properties are almost all related to the heart. The color of pink amethyst is due to the high presence of hematite. This gives the quartz its pink color, unlike, for example, rose quartz. Amethyst is derived from the Greek word amethistos, which means something like "against intoxication or non-intoxicating," and has its origins in the ancient superstition that its wearer is protected from the intoxicating effects of wine.
