It is a true tour de force to find such a formation at all among the rock layers of this remote region. But the discovery was only the beginning. Next, the specimen had to be exposed with extreme care and removed from the surrounding rock without damaging the fragile structures. Only thanks to craftsmanship, patience, and experience could this natural wonder ultimately be preserved in its current form.

Sourced from the famous Wenshan Mines
The Wenshan mine in the Chinese province of Yunnan is one of Asia's most famous mineral sites. Originally a zinc mine, it is primarily known for the production of aragonite and, less frequently, hemimorphite in predominantly blue and white colors, and even more rarely in green shades. The region gained international fame for its world-class deep blue hemimorphites with exceptionally fine surface growth strongly reminiscent of okenite. To date, only two significant specimens of this famous variety have been identified: one found around 1990/1991 and a second in 1999. Although the Wenshan region is admired worldwide for its hemimorphites, it has also produced some of the most spectacular calcite specimens ever. This masterpiece undoubtedly belongs to that category.
