To date, only two significant specimens of this exceptional quality have become known: one discovered around 1990/1991 and a second in 1999. Although the name “Wenshan mine” likely refers to multiple deposits in the vicinity of Wenshan, the region is known worldwide for some of the most spectacular calcite and aragonite finds from China.
