Description
The universal symbol for love is a heart. Just think of expressions like "passionate love," "you stole my heart," "my sweetheart," or the various images on Valentine's Day cards. The heart is also often used in art to represent love. Love hearts are used for everything. Love hearts as jewelry, in treats, in flower arrangements, or hearts as a motif for wrapping paper, fabrics, etc. The heart is a classic symbol of love used by everyone all over the world. Traditionally, the heart has been chosen in many cultures as the seat of love and feelings. Why the heart was chosen as a symbol of love is not entirely clear. Perhaps because the heart is automatically associated with (emotional) life, and without the heart (read: love), life is impossible. The heartbeat is also influenced by feelings; for example, our heart beats faster when we are in love. The heart wants to be loved. The heart needs love. It's even claimed that love extends life expectancy, while loneliness has the opposite effect. Everyone knows the expression: "He died of a broken heart.".
