Lemon quartz is a modified quartz variety that is light or dark yellow in color, sometimes with a slightly greenish hue, and almost always lacking orange or brown hues. This variety is usually artificially produced by heating amethyst and iron at high temperatures. Irradiating rock crystal can also produce an intense light yellow color. The natural variety is somewhat less uniform in color and is particularly suitable for esoteric use.
