Description

A display contains 12 bottles and is sold as such.
A lucky bottle is a small bottle containing a piece of paper, a stick, or an object. This piece of paper, stick, or object usually bears a philosophical saying or a fairly general prediction of the future (similar to those in a horoscope). It may also feature a series of lucky numbers (usually for a lottery) and Chinese sayings with their corresponding translations. The exact origin of lucky bottles is unknown, but various groups of immigrants in California claim to have introduced the phenomenon in the early 20th century. The bottle is said to be based on the Japanese senbei and is related to the fortune cookie. Notably, many of the immigrants who claim to have invented fortune cookies are indeed Japanese. Although the cookies themselves are a relatively new invention, the idea for cookies with pieces of paper inside is believed to originate somewhere in 14th-century China. According to a legend, a Chinese man who wanted to rebel against Mongol rule secretly planned an uprising by urging people to resist the Mongols through messages hidden in mooncakes.
