Description
Water agates, occasionally called Enhydro or Adlerstein, are exceptional geodes whose cavities are filled with millions of years of primordial water. The color spectrum of the most beautifully veined agates ranges from white/beige and brown to red, gray, and black. In individual locations, translucent geodes can often be found, and with a bit of luck, even a direct view of the enclosed water. Since time immemorial, water agate (hence the common name "lucky geode") has been used in many cultures as a powerfully protective and auspicious stone. It also bears the nickname "protector of pregnant women," as it was used by Hildegard von Bingen to alleviate the suffering of childbirth.
