Description
In a sense, Script granites are special forms of pegmatite. They often formed in channels where the magma consisted of a specific ratio of quartz and a more unusual type of feldspar. This ratio caused potassium feldspar, as the special type of feldspar is called, and quartz to crystallize at approximately the same time. This prevented the formation of a distinct crystal form, as is the case with uneven crystallization of minerals. The result was a rock in which potassium feldspar and quartz are strongly intergrown. The quartz intergrowths are reminiscent of a kind of cuneiform script. Hence the name "Script granite." Script granites are available in varying degrees of coarseness and fineness. Not all Script granites are as beautiful in appearance as those we offer. Script granite is a granite whose polished appearance exhibits markings that create the effect of Hebrew or cuneiform inscriptions.
