Description
China Ruby quartz from China
This special China-Ruby is a striking red to purplish quartz material from China that we purchased under this trade name. In total, we bought no less than 60 kilos of this special material, which immediately stands out due to its warm red, wine-red, and purple hues, combined with a beautiful crystalline structure. Although the name China-Ruby suggests otherwise, it is not a true ruby but a special variety of quartz for which, as yet, no generally accepted separate mineral name is known.
Special variety of quartz
The base material belongs to the quartz group and is distinguished primarily by its striking color. Whereas rock crystal is colorless and amethyst is typically purple, China Ruby displays a much warmer spectrum that can vary from red and reddish-purple to deep violet and sometimes almost wine-colored. It is precisely this combination that makes the material interesting to collectors of less common quartz varieties.
Not a real ruby
The trade name China-Ruby refers primarily to the striking reddish color of the material. Mineralogically, it is not a ruby, as true ruby is the red gemstone variety of corundum. China-Ruby, on the other hand, consists of quartz and should therefore clearly be regarded as a special variety of quartz.
Play of red to purple colors
The color is one of the strongest characteristics of this lot. Some pieces are distinctly reddish, others more purple or red-violet, while yet other specimens display multiple shades simultaneously. Moreover, the crystalline structure creates subtle light reflections, causing the color to change slightly depending on the angle.
Beautiful crystalline material
China-Ruby has a distinctly crystalline appearance with natural fracture surfaces, glossy structures, and locally more transparent or translucent zones. As a result, the material looks lively and an attractive contrast is created between color, structure, and light.
Size from 30 to 60 mm
The pieces measure approximately 30 to 60 mm , making them ideal as collector's stones, retail items, or decorative minerals. The size is large enough to clearly view the color and crystal structure, yet compact enough for presentation in a display case or bin.
Large batch of 60 kilos
We have been able to purchase no less than 60 kilos of this special quartz variety . As a result, we can offer a beautiful selection with great variation in color, crystallinity, and natural form, where each piece has its own character.
Every stone is unique
No two pieces of China Ruby are the same. The amount of red, purple, and violet varies from specimen to specimen, as do the crystal structure, shape, and clarity. Some pieces are more crystalline, while others are more compact and deeper in color.
Interesting for collectors
For mineral collectors, China Ruby is particularly attractive because the material does not fall under a classic, generally known quartz name. It is precisely this unknown and less common character that makes it interesting for those who enjoy collecting special commercial varieties and new materials.
Beautiful addition to a quartz collection
Alongside Rock Crystal, Amethyst, Citrine, Smoky Quartz, and Prasiolite, China Ruby forms a striking color variant within the broad world of quartz. The warm reddish-purple color clearly deviates from the more classic varieties and adds extra color and variation to a quartz collection.
Suitable for various applications
The pieces are suitable as collector's stones, decorative minerals, educational material, or retail products. Due to their striking color and crystalline structure, they present beautifully in a mineral cabinet, on a stone base, or together with other special quartz varieties.
Traditional meaning of quartz
Within traditional gemology, quartz is often associated with clarity, balance, and the strengthening of intentions. Additionally, red and purple hues are frequently associated with vitality, strength, and intuition within spiritual traditions. These meanings are based on tradition and personal belief and have not been scientifically proven to have medical effects.
