Description
For years, the Huanzala mine in Peru has been a major source of pyrite, which is sold worldwide. Lead and zinc ore were mined in the mine. Pyrite was a byproduct traded by local workers. Some of it still surfaces in small quantities, and recently, the relatively unknown rock, luxiallinite, was discovered. Besides zinc, the rock also contains fragments of jasper and other minerals and is very rare. As far as we know, the Huanzala mine in Peru is the only mine where this stone occurs, and only in very small quantities. Huanzala is located in the Dos de Mayo province in central Peru, approximately 250 kilometers north of Lima. Luxiallinite is currently in very limited supply, but we are hearing good reports about its medicinal properties for headaches, migraines, lung problems, and heart rhythm disorders. The stone is also said to be an excellent grounding stone.
