Description
Gemstones have been coming from Turkey since time immemorial. Zultanite (Sultanite) is undoubtedly one of the most famous, but especially in remote villages and remote areas, many beautiful stones and gemstones emerge. Turkey has many varieties of calcite, but quartz and agate are also richly represented. Fossils are also common in southern Turkey. The two cities most famous for the stone and gemstone trade are Izmir and Ankara. The International Gem Society's gemstone index contains information on many of Turkey's gemstones, such as adamite, chalcedony, jet, powellite, and Turkish purple jade. Colemanite is normally colorless and difficult to cut. It is most commonly found in the Mustafakemalpascha mine in western Turkey.
