Morocco's national day is on July 30, the day King Mohammed VI officially succeeded his father, Hassan II. The predominant religion is Islam, but the country also has a small percentage of Christians and Jews. Morocco has two official languages: Arabic and Berber. The Moroccan education system, former colonization, and media ensure that many Moroccans also speak foreign languages, including French, Spanish, and, to a lesser extent, English. In daily life, two vernacular languages are spoken: Moroccan Arabic and Berber.
