Description
A rare new mineral combination was discovered near Huanzala, Peru, in early 2017. A llama herder found some fragments when he saw a condor repeatedly returning to a particular spot. This turned out to be a small vein of this rock, and thus the mineral was named condorite. It consists partly of pyrite, which is, of course, the mineral of Huanzala, but also contains jasper, zinc, agate, and a small amount of tourmaline. As far as is known, the vein near the Huanzala mine in Peru is the only place where this stone occurs, and only in very small quantities. Huanzala is located in the Dos de Mayo province in central Peru, approximately 250 kilometers north of Lima. Condorite is currently in very limited supply, but we are hearing good reports about its healing properties, which also appear to be an excellent grounding stone.
