Description
This mineral sample contains crystallized calcite originating from the karst region between Tuban and Rembang. The area is part of the renowned Rembang geological zone, characterized by extensive limestone formations and karst landscapes.
The sample exhibits botryoidal to massive calcite growth, forming rounded, grouped structures resembling natural cave formations. The color varies from milky white to creamy beige, typical of calcite precipitated from calcium-rich groundwater in limestone environments. Such formations arise when mineral-rich water slowly deposits calcium carbonate in cavities or fissures within limestone. Over time, repeated mineral deposition builds up layered masses and rounded surfaces, creating aesthetically interesting mineral structures often associated with stalactite or flowstone growth. Calcite samples from the Tuban–Rembang karst region are valued for their natural sculptural forms and their connection to one of Indonesia's largest limestone provinces. The mineral represents a classic example of secondary carbonate mineralization within a tropical karst system. For collectors and geology enthusiasts, samples from this region offer a tangible representation of the geological processes that shape the vast limestone landscapes of Southeast Asia.
