Description
Desert sage differs from white sage in the aroma it releases when burned. White sage has a sharp, penetrating scent, described as spicy. Not everyone finds this scent pleasant. It is therefore more functional than a pleasant home fragrance. Also useful: sage is used as a natural repellent against insects such as moths and mosquitoes. Desert sage is slightly less sharp and has a somewhat peppery scent, similar to mint.
Bound desert sage. Once the leaves are dry, they can be burned. This is bound desert sage, 10 cm long. This makes it easy to light. Once the top of the bundle is lit, you can fan it with a feather, spreading the sacred smoke over objects, people, and into every corner of a room. Desert sage grows in the low-lying prairie of California and is less potent than regular white sage. It can therefore be used for daily smudging and to create a pleasant atmosphere.
