Description
Palo Santo (Bursera Graveolens) is a tree native to the Pacific coast of Central South America. It is also known as "Holy Wood" because its blossoms appear during the Christmas season. The wood is easily recognizable by its unparalleled fragrance. Palo Santo trees are harvested under government supervision by the inhabitants of the South American jungles. The wood is harvested from the ground only four to ten years after the tree has naturally released its leaves. It is during this period that the wood matures, imparting its healing properties and perfume. No tree is harmed during this process.
Palo Santo is often used for:

Palo Santo is completely pure (pure wood). You can light it in a short time, from a few seconds to a minute. It's best lit in a South American tiger shell. As the wood burns, the room will fill with a sweet, resinous aroma.
