Uvite is an uncommon form of tourmaline, the crystal formation is different from that of most other Tourmaline. Fluor-uvite comes in different colors including orange / red and groen.Het mineral fluor-uvite ((Ca, Na) (Mg, Fe + 2) 3Al5Mg (BO3) 3Si6O18 (OH, F) 4) is a tan, brown to black and silicate dertoermalijnen belongs to the group. The properties of the mineral are the same as those of tourmaline. Fluor-uvite contains magnesium and is non-translucent to translucent. It resembles the mineral draviet which also belongs to the tourmaline group. The mineral is named after the Sri Lankan province of Uva. Fluor-uvite among other things found in the former Soviet Union (Transbaikalia, Yakutia), Sri Lanka, the United States (New York) and Canada (Ontario). The mineral is rarely processed as an ornamental stone.
