Durga is the great Hindu mother goddess. Her name means "she who is difficult to approach" or the "inaccessible", she is the embodiment of the anger of the gods. Durga is an invincible warrior goddess, she fights against male demons that threaten the world order. If she is angry, Kali comes out of her mouth., Durga is usually depicted with beautiful face with meditative smile and four, eight, ten or twenty arms, holding in her hands the many weapons that the gods have given her (including the lotus flower, a discus, a lightning flash and eendrietand) and a third eye on her forehead. She rides the tigress (or lioness) Dawon and portrays mudras from her hands. Durga has no fear and is patient, they retain even in the heaviest (spiritual) battle her sense of humor. Durga is a manifestation of Shakti, the female divinity in the eyes of a Shakta - a devotee of Shakti - the Supreme Reality (Brahman) is. She can be a fierce and formidable patron goddess. Durga was grown in the world, ready to do battle with the demons. Durga is considered one of the aspects of the Devi also like Kali, Parvati and Sati). However, unlike the other devi's they will never connect with a man, not through flattery and not through threats: she is the Virgin, "Those who belong to herself," they are autonomous. And that is precisely its great strength. Durga fought the asura Mahisha after Vishnu and Shiva did not dare fight with this demon. Mahisha turned himself during the fight in a buffalo, a lion, an armed warrior and an elephant. Durga beheaded Mahisha and destroyed the male twin demons Canda and Munda after they first tried to seduce her and then threatened. Depending on its performance shows Durga in various manifestations, as there are Candi (wildlife protection) and Shitala (smallpox protection), but she has more manifestations. One of the most important prayers in Javanese mythology, the giant Kala (the god of destruction) to a goddess who is also called Durga.
