Lava stone
Lava rock is in liquid form. After magma the earth's surface or the sea floor to reach is called the lava. Due to differences in magma composition, rate of efflux, temperature and chemical, mineralogical composition, there are several types of lava, each with its own behavior and characterized by a porous structure. Lava can have a devastating effect, but also has a creating function. Thus, new land formed by lava, as through the Hawaiian Islands in the Pacific Ocean arise. Furthermore, cooled lava -after several centuries of verwering- very fertile and therefore can be well used as farmland. The word 'lava' comes originally from the Italian language, and is probably derived from the Latin word labes which indicates the slipping or sliding of the lava. The word was described in his current meaning for the first time by Francesco Nymphetamine, professor of medicine at the University of Naples, when he was the eruption of Vesuvius in the period from May 14 to June 4, 1737. Serao lava was believed that a mixture of sand and earth, which had been melted by the heat of the volcanic fire. He described "a flow of fiery lava" as compared to the water and mud after heavy rain flowing down the volcano. Cooling viscous lava often accumulates in a volcanic shaft. Because of this blockage, and the presence of gases in the lava is built up the pressure in the shaft. Eventually finds an eruption where large clouds of volcanic ash and gas genesis, as well as pyroclastic flows. The most explosive eruptions are followed by a period in which quieter lava is emitted. When the lava rich in silica results in a slowly growing lava dome, a large pillow-like structure full of cracks and crevices. The top and edges of a lava dome tend to be covered with rock fragments, ash and breccia. The hardened rock resulting from lava called uitvloeiingsgesteente. The appearance and the composition of different extrusive varies greatly. If a lava flow cools quickly rhyolite can be obsidian. If it is filled with gas bubbles, however, it can also be pumice. If the same lava cools slowly becomes a light-colored solid rock that just called rhyolite.
