What soapnuts are,
Soap nuts are not really nuts but fruits from the so called “soap nut tree” that you can find in many countries but most of all in Pakistan. When the nut is ripe it will be harvested and put in the sun to dry. No chemicals and no artificial add-ons are used.
How does it work?
The skin of the soap nut contains a natural substance called Saponin, When the skin absorbs water the substance will change the surface area of the water and this makes it possible to remove dirt from clothes. In fact it acts like natural detergent.
Why it is harmless?
Saponins are not harmful for the environment because they are biological and there are no add-ons that you can find in factory made detergents. Soap nuts are being used for ages in Pakistan and other countries.
