The sheep (Ovis aries) is a cloven-hoofed mammal that has been domesticated by man to deliver include wool. It is a ruminant, closely related to the goat. The species belongs to the genus Ovis, which also belong to the mouflon and the bighorn sheep. The male is called ram, the female and the young ewe lamb. A castrated ram called a Hamel; wether an executive with a herd of sheep or wethers carries a bell and is therefore called rascal. The domesticated sheep descended from wild sheep of the genus Ovis. There are several species of wild sheep, including Urial and bighorn sheep. The most likely ancestors of the domesticated sheep, the mouflon (Ovis gmelini) from Southwest Asia and probably the argali (Ovis ammon) from Central Asia. All types of sheep are herd animals. The sheep was like the goat, before 7500 BC. domesticated, and is one of the earliest domesticated animals. From the Middle East, where it is likely domesticated sheep, the sheep spread to the rest of the world. Usually a shepherd went around with his herd to prevent overgrazing. In the Netherlands and Belgium will be from about the 5th millennium BC. sheep have grown to love. Keeping sheep deposited in pastures was done only in late medieval Europe. Grazing on greens and commons is an intermediate phase. The sheep differs from its close relative the goat by the lack of a goatee. Also, sheep are not the strong scent glands that have goats did. The difference is further seen in the shape of the horns of the male: a ram which has horns down behind the ears along curls, but an adult male goat is straight or slightly curved horns. Matings between goats and sheep frequently and sometimes lead come to novice embryos, but are quickly disposed of. Yet every year it appears a message about the birth of such a hybrid called yawn or scheit. According to scientists, this is impossible because the sheep and the goat has 54 chromosomes 60. However, it is already managed in 1982 to compose partially developed embryos of both species in the laboratory joints and let grow in the uterus. However, this is no intersection, but a chimeric, a random combination of parts of the body.
