Murex trapa, common name the rare-spined murex, is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusc of the family Muricidae, the rock snails.

The shell (or snails also known as "snail") is one of limestone (calcite and / or aragonite) and other minerals existing (mostly) external skeleton, which is produced by a mollusc (tribe of Mollusca).
