The mineral petalite is a lithium-aluminum tectosilicate with the chemical formula LiAlSi4O10. It belongs to the group of feldspars. The colorless, gray or white-yellow mineral has a monoclinic crystal system and a perfect cleavage. The average density is 2.42 and the hardness is 6 to 6.5. Petalite is neither radioactive nor magnetic.

The name of the mineral petalite is derived from the Greek word petalon, which means "leaf". It was so named because of the cleavage that looked like leaves. Petalite, like many lithium-containing minerals, can often be found in granitic pegmatites. The type location is the Mine Academy in Freiberg, Germany. Petalite is a protective stone that is used in many spiritual activities. It is a good support for shamanism and the making of astral journeys because Petalite strengthens visions, lets earthen and protects them. Petalite also makes contact with angels, guides and power animals easier. The stone has a soothing effect on emotional events and nerve pain and promotes inner peace and harmony. Petalite purifies the aura and helps in the flow and management of Kundalini energy. Physically, the stone has a positive effect on the entire hormone system of men and women, eyes, intestines, lungs, aids and cancer.
