The Plasma Ball is no ordinary lamp. This lamp reacts to heat, touch and sound! Place your hands on both sides of the sphere and you will see that the rays will draw towards your hands. A beautiful lamp that continues to amaze time and time again. The plasma lamp was invented by Nikola Tesla who called it the "Inert Gas Discharge Tube". It is one of the most beautiful manifestations of plasma. Elements from all kinds of subfields of physics have been incorporated into the plasma lamp, such as plasma physics, spectroscopy, electronics, atomic structures, etc. The first question we have to answer is what plasma actually is. At room temperature, gases are generally good insulators since the number of charged particles per unit volume is very small. The concentration of the charged particles can be increased by properly irradiating the gas (with high-energy electromagnetic radiation, eg gamma radiation) or by raising the temperature considerably. In this way, part of the gas molecules is split into ions and electrons. The thus formed, fairly homogeneous mixture of neutral molecules (which make up the bulk of the mix), positive ions and electrons is called plasma.
