Haliotis ovina is a slug species from the family of the Haliotidae. The scientific name of the species was first published in 1791 by Gmelin valid. The shell is provided with a thick pearlescent layer on the inside which is hardly injured, and broadens into a wide, flat shell opening. The shell appears to be a cup or a hat and is suitable to aspirate fixed on flat rocks in the surf zone. The shell is in the form of an ear, and has a plurality of holes parallel to the edge. These species are also known as abalone, in response to the shape of the shell. Some of these varieties are suitable for human consumption and in many parts of the world considered a delicacy.
