The transparent to translucent light blue papagoite has a glass sheen, a light blue stripe color and cleavage is imperfect according to the crystal surface [100]. Papagoite has an average density of 3.25, and the hardness is from 5 to 5.5. The crystal system is monoclinic, and the mineral is not radioactive. The mineral is named after the papagoite Indianan Papago tribe in Arizona, USA. Papagoite is a secondary mineral that occurs mainly near other copper-containing rocks. The type of location is the Ajo mine, Poma County, Arizona, USA.
