Celestial bodies such as the Sun, moon and star are all the rage. People are becoming more and more spiritual and are attracted to these heavenly bodies, especially if they are made of beautiful gemstones.
The Moon, Earth's only natural satellite, is the fifth largest moon in our solar system and is sometimes called Luna, after its Latin name. Unlike most moons, which are small compared to their planets, the Moon is relatively large with a mass 1/81 that of Earth. This unique feature has led to the Earth and Moon sometimes being considered a double planet, even though their common center of gravity lies within the Earth. For the dwarf planet Pluto and its moon Charon, the ratio is even more extreme, with a moon that has 1/8 the mass of Pluto and a center of mass that lies outside Pluto. The prevailing theory holds that the Moon was formed after a collision between Earth and Theia, a planet the size of Mars. This catastrophic impact would have generated enough energy to melt both planets almost instantly. Theia is believed to have been destroyed and merged with Earth, ejecting a large clump of molten lava, along with a spiral tail of such material - this could possibly be the origin of the asteroid belt beyond Mars.
