It is a great skill to cast cast iron and ultimately to get a fantastic product. The objects are still traditionally hand-poured into sand molds that can only be used a few times. Partly for this reason no product is the same. Cast iron is an molded alloy of iron, carbon (2.5% -6.67%), manganese and silicon. It is produced by melting raw iron together with coke (coke) and chalk in a dome oven, induction oven or drum oven. The liquid metal is poured into a mold that is molded with clay bonded mold sand. Clay bound or green sand is used for casting weights up to ± 300 kg. Chemically bonded molding sand is used for larger casting weights.
