Gaea. In Greek mythology, Gaea or Gaia is the Greek goddess who is the personification of the earth, the primordial mother. She emerged from the primordial chaos. She united with Heaven (Uranus) and together they formed the first pair of gods. "Gaea or Gaia is the Greek goddess of the earth." From that union the Titans were born and the Cyclopes. Gaea's motherly love is central to the myths, as she encouraged her sons (the Titans) to rebel against their father Uranus. Cronus, the youngest of the Titans, assumed leadership and castrated his father Uranus. With this act, crime and violence entered the world.
