One of the oldest handmade products we know from the ancient Inca era in Peru are the amazing beautiful hand carved animals of Aragonite, Aragonite occurs in many amazing color shades and is quite easy to work with by the locals. Because of the beautiful patterns in the Aragonite there is no animal the same. Most statues come from Cuzco in central Peru. That's good to explain because in this area (Pachatusan and Nevado Auzangate mountain areas) most Aragonite occurs. Even today, it is not easy to get the Aragonite animals to the Netherlands because this is very difficult and dangerous in Peru. Everything has to be moved to the capital of Lima and it takes days on foot to reach the capital. Aragonite is known for its therapeutic effect, and sometimes one puts an animal under the pillow before going to sleep.
