This ammonite displays richly varied surface texturing ending in a sharp point on its final chamber. Only in one small area of North America does one find this brilliant gemstone. Over millions of years, the nacre of the ammonite's shell has been transformed to take on this wild range of iridescent colouring. Placenticeras costatum. This ammonite measures 35cm in diameter. Weight: 4.88kg Originating 71 Million years ago. The result of tectonic pressure and mineralization formed the colourful gemstone that is almost exclusively mined by Korite. Indigenous Canadians refer to Ammolite as the “Buffalo Stone”, others refer to Ammolite as the “Energy Stone”, “Spirit Stone” or “7 Colour Prosperity Stone”.
